I sat down and created a new blog, and knew I wanted to include new features, categories, and topics to write about.
Alas, gone are the feature days of “Friday Finds” or “Monthly Goals” …the blogging world is just too transient.
I think maybe there’s more fun, less mundane stuff to write anyway. I fought with “committing” on some of these for a long time, but others such as “What I’m Painting” I’ve kept up with from the start. While I still don’t intend to adhere to a concrete schedule, or beat myself up for writing on impulse, I do want to stay active on this blog. For the lulls between adventure posts, I mapped out a few fun features to write about whenever the urge hits me.
Here they are, explained, in case you want to search by topic.
What I’m Painting
Typically when I paint something I take (shaky, out of focus and poorly lit) photographs of the process. When I write about the project, I usually go over the process and my thoughts on the piece. Sometimes I just let the painting speak for itself or put it with words, but it varies. You can always follow my instagram (haifisch_art) if you want to see progress photos, finished works, and crafts and cosplay.
This is another series I sort of kinda kept up with on my old blog. I’ve stashed away a series of so-called ‘thought provoking’ questions which to me sound more like journaling prompts. If all else fails, I pick one or two or five and give my answers on the blog.
Okay, this is the one I’m excited about. It’s also the one I fought the hardest with actually “committing” to, because who knows the frequency I’ll post about it. There’s your disclaimer when I miss weeks! But, there are just so many topics of the strange, the grotesque, the w e i r d, that I want to talk about and share…but I haven’t seen my blog as the place. We’re talking bog people and Die Antwoord and cults and ohaguro and whatever the hell else doesn’t fit. This blog’s primary purpose is fun. Its secondary purpose is for my son to have some semblance of who I was when I’m gone (I know, I’m morbid.) It was both of those reasons that made me push to make this feature a reality. So, keep your eye out for the weird Wednesday features.
Thoughts & Storytime, Bitches
I will reserve ‘thoughts’ for the deeper, usually more negative or troublesome topics: mainly foster care and PTSD. Again, I try to write as memories or ideas come to me, but I thought the heavier stuff needed its own tab. I’ll try to keep them categorized for your emo, heavy reading days (haha.) Storytime is more of the ridiculous tall tales that, for some reason, happen to me (like the time my bike was stolen and then the police came to INTERROGATE ME) You know, the lesser important, but still worth reading, crap. It’s all crap, but some of it is snarkier, bitchier crap.
I hope you’ll find something in these new features to your liking! I sure am excited to organize my rantings.
